The Story Behind The Events
FEARLESS FILMMAKERS was created in November
of 2005 by Bobby Marsden; with the assistance of The Northern Guild,
Sasha Patel and one of the first “Fearless Filmmakers”,
Ryan Wood. The original concept was to conduct a screening of a
collection of short films all produced by Northern Guild Members
at the historic RIVERVIEW THEATER.
Spearheading the event on behalf of the Northern Guild, Mr. Wood
(“Fear of Girls”) approached Mr. Marsden and the two
along with local events promoter Sasha Patel collaborated on concepts
to maximize the event and gain as much exposure as possible for
the films and filmmakers involved in the November screening. Over
a few cocktails and an appetizer or two, the event was a given it’s
identity as a screening with an Official After Party designed to
bring the local film community together to celebrate the locally
produced films being screened and the filmmakers who created them.
It was called FEARLESS FILMMAKERS…and the event was a huge
success for all involved and the 300+ people in attendance.
In the after-glow of the first Fearless event, many filmmakers stepped
forward with short films, music videos, documentaries, works in
progress and even feature-films. They all wanted to be a part of
the next Fearless Filmmakers. Realizing the desire of local filmmakers
to participate in another Fearless event and also the numerous emails
by industry professionals and the general public asking when the
next event will be, it was obvious what was needed.
Mr. Marsden along with the rest of the Fearless team created another
Fearless, and then another, and still another…..and thus the
monthly event known as FEARLESS FILMMAKERS was established.
Bobby Marsden is now the executive director of FEARLESS FILMMAKERS.
He and his fearless staff promise to provide the best event possible
for the filmmakers participating and every individual in attendance.
